Gummy Smile Treatment Available in Bristol
“Gummy smile” or excessive gingival display is a common problem for men and women and is entirely treatable. The problem refers to the effect of displaying more of the upper gum or “gingiva” than is necessary or desirable when smiling.
What Causes a Gummy Smile?
In most cases it is caused by the unopposed and strong action of the muscles that contract to elevate the upper lip. The 2 pairs of muscles chiefly responsible for this are the levator labii superioris and the levator labii superioris alaeque nasii.
What is the Treatment?
Dr Brad will examine you and advise whether or not he will be able to treat you or whether you would be better seeking more expensive, prolonged and painful orthodontic treatment. If you are assessed to be suitable, the usual treatment would be to carefully inject properly diluted Botulinum toxin to each of the troublesome lip muscles to help you to get the smile you desire. Effects typically appear within just a few days and may last for 4-9 months.
The price is just £75 when taken with other treatments, £140 when taken alone.
